Stand in the place where you live
Now face north
Think about direction
Wonder why you haven't before

Now stand in the place where you work
Now face west
Think about the place where you live
Wonder why you haven't before

If you are confused, check with the sun
Carry a compass to help you along
Your feet are going to be on the ground
Your head is there to move you around

- Stand, R.E.M. 1988

Won Eh is pleased to present Stand, a solo exhibition by Thomas Spoerndle. The exhibition will feature one site-specific wall drawing and one “corner-specific” painting. With each artwork, Spoerndle explores his characteristic visual language in a systematic yet distinct way to create an experience between the pictorial and the material space in which to provide the viewer an opportunity to engage in his fundamental subject – “the act of looking.” Overall in this particular exhibition, this “act” also extends to include the architecture of the overall space. Thus, the viewer stands within the artwork to become another individual element in relation to the whole.

Won Eh is an artist run project space in the home of Lauren Clay and Nicholas Moenich at 467 Troutman St, Apt 1A. The main objective is to exhibit solo installations by artists that are interested in the experience of art and domesticity. Please note that there are cats here.
